
Glenn Ruga
Design Director
Glenn Ruga is the creative director and owner of Visual Communications, a graphic design firm in Massachusetts working with non-profit and commercial clients that are making a difference in the world.
His clients include the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Physicians for Human Rights, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, and the Harvard AIDS Initiative. He is also the design director for Healing HealthCare Systems and is responsible for the overall design direction of publications and the website.
He has an MFA from Syracuse University (1990) in graphic and advertising design and an MA from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst (1981) in Social Thought and Political Economy.
Ruga is also the volunteer director of the Massachusetts-based humanitarian and advocacy organization, the Center for Balkan Development (CBD). CBD is a leading national organization providing information about the war and peace efforts in the Balkans and is involved in economic and social reconstruction work in the Balkans.
An accomplished photographer, Ruga has produced two photo documentaries on the Balkans. The first, completed in 1996 Bosnia, titled "Zones of Separation: The Struggle for a Multiethnic Bosnia (www.balkandevelopment.org/zones). The second documentary completed in October 2000 is titled "Reconstructing Kosovo" (www.balkandevelopment.org/kosovo).
