North Hawaii Community Hospital is a 50-bed acute care community hospital, centrally located in Waimea to serve the residents of and visitors to the northern region of the Big Island of Hawaii.
A new hospital that opened in May 1996, this privately owned, non-profit facility offers a full array of acute care services, as well as complementary healing modalities, including chiropractic, naturopathic, acupuncture, massage, and mental health. The staff is committed to providing a healing environment and delivering medical care of the highest quality that honors the patient as a whole person, mind, body, and spirit within the context of family, community, and culture.
The hospital broadcasts both The C.A.R.E. Channel and C.A.R.E. with Guided Imagery on patient televisions and broadcasts C.A.R.E. with Music on its overhead audio system. Healing HealthCare Systems Co-Founders Susan Mazer and Dallas Smith have provided educational programs to the hospital, in addition to recording a special CD for North Hawaii entitled "Look to the Mountain.
