March 2, 2010 –
March 2, 2010 - Susan Mazer, expert on the sound environment in healthcare settings and President and Co-founder of Reno, NV based Healing HealthCare Systems, will be presenting The Elder Care Concert Series, A Case Study on March 17th at the 2010 Annual Conference of the American Society on Aging and the National Council on Aging taking place in Chicago, IL. The presentation will address the benefits of creating a community interface with the confined elder through live performances in elder care settings. Participants will be provided with the benefits and operational strategies to set up an Elder Care Concert Series in their community.
"When we started the Elder Care Concerts with Sierra Arts Foundation, we aimed for breaking through the marginalization of the confined elder by bringing in musicians who would not only perform, but would come to know their audiences and be more involved." says Mazer. "The experience has not only been beneficial to the elder community, but has been enriching and gratifying to the musicians."
